Mecacycle was based in St. Etienne, near the Massif Central in central France and was formed in the early 1980s by Raymond Creuset.
Production continued until the early 1990s, although the company produced a wide range of "lightweight" frames, the most famous were the turbo models, i.e. those with the double seat tube configuration and short wheelbase.
The Mecacycle frames were made from Super Vitus or Columbus SL tubes.
A special collector's item and show bike, the modern tires stand out from the racers, a conversion to classic tubular tire rims is no problem.
